Nick Jordaan, Owner

Nick Jordaan brings over 35 years of comprehensive engineering expertise to his role as Founder and Director of NJ’s Industrial & Field Repairs.

Nick’s journey in precision engineering began in 1986 with his apprenticeship as a fitter & turner machinist at Falcon Gold Mine in Zimbabwe. During this foundational period, he developed versatile skills in mining maintenance, repairs, and machining, working both on surface operations and underground.

His career progressed into the textile industry at David Whitehead Textiles, where he spent approximately 18 years honing his craft. Nick’s exceptional technical abilities and leadership potential led to his promotion to workshop foreman after six years. In this role, he specialised in machining and repairs for cotton spinning machinery, developing expertise that continues to inform his approach to complex mechanical systems.

In 2002, Nick relocated to Cape Town, South Africa, where he worked as a Toolmaker at the Cape Mint while awaiting his Australian visa. This experience further refined his precision manufacturing capabilities.

Upon migrating to Australia in 2003, Nick quickly established himself in the local engineering industry. After brief positions at Tuff Bullbars and Benmic Industries, where he gained valuable experience in site work for grain handling conveyors and machinery maintenance, Nick joined Tyco Pumping Systems in 2004 as a CNC and manual machinist.

Nick’s technical excellence and management capabilities were recognised with his promotion to workshop leading hand after three years with Tyco. In this position, he supervised approximately 14 staff members while managing workshop planning and ensuring timely delivery of orders and pump assemblies.

When manufacturing operations relocated in 2019, Nick seized the opportunity to establish NJ’s Industrial & Field Repairs in Drayton. Under his leadership, the company has flourished as a premier supplier of machined components to the pumping industry while expanding to serve mining, agricultural, and general industrial clients.

Today, Nick’s vision drives NJ’s Industrial & Field Repairs’ commitment to versatility, quality, and client satisfaction. His diverse experience across multiple industries and continents provides a unique perspective that enables the company to tackle engineering challenges of any scale, from one-off custom fabrications to large production runs.
